Chapter 01
A spa is delivered finished, so the yard has to be ready first
Buying a hot tub or a swim spa looks like a showroom decision: which model, which size, how many seats. The harder decisions come after the purchase, and they are about your yard. A filled spa is a very heavy object that has to sit level on something that will not settle, with power run to it, with a way for water and wet feet to get to the house and back, and with a view that was worth putting it there for.
In the Redding and Palo Cedro area there is a second question. A spa that gets used in a hot dry July is a different animal from one used on a wet January night, and the cover, the wind and the walk from the back door matter as much as the jets. Plenty of owners find out in the first winter that the spot they picked is a long, cold, muddy dash from the door.
And then there is the water. A tub that looks beautiful on delivery day can be green within weeks if nobody explained the testing and the routine. That is the other thing people are really deciding when they buy: who they can call when the water goes wrong.

The base, the power and the surround are planned together, so a spa can sit on a pad beside the house, be built into a redwood deck, or be stepped into a gazebo with a rail around it.
Delivery is by the people who sold it. Michael Troy, who bought a spa here, put it this way: they delivered it when they promised, then helped him understand how it works. That second half is the part we take seriously. Setup ends with someone standing at the tub showing you the controls, the cover and the water routine, not with a truck pulling away.
A swim spa asks more of the yard than a hot tub does, because it is longer and it is meant to be exercised in. The deck and the access around it get planned for people moving, not just sitting. If you are weighing a swim spa against a small pool, Greg will walk both through with you, since the same crew builds either one.
Chapter 03
Keeping the water clear after the truck leaves
Clear spa water is mostly routine: test it, adjust it, keep the filter clean, keep the cover on. Outdoor water in northern California has its own habits. Strong sun and long hot spells work on the chemistry faster than most first-time owners expect, and a stabilizer such as cyanuric acid can build up in outdoor water and make sanitizer less effective, which is why testing matters more than guessing.
That is where the ongoing help comes in. When the water turns, you call people who know your spa and your yard, so you are not working it out from a bottle label at nine at night. Michael Troy called that support amazing, and it is the reason a spa from a local dealer is not the same purchase as one from a website.
